The Story
"Between Nest and Sky" is my series of six sketches born during a few magical weeks this spring.
Ten inches from my office window, a tiny Allen's hummingbird decided to build her home and raise her family. I watched every day, and I sketched alongside her. And somewhere along the way, over sixty million people found their way to her window too.
These sketches are the moments I wanted to keep forever. I hope they bring the same quiet joy into your home.
A Nest Woven with Words
During the weeks mama hummingbird built her nest and raised her babies beside my window, I found myself quietly sketching — weaving in words I wished for her, and the emotions that surrounded those magical weeks. Awe, wonder, faith, love.
Because the moments were so fleeting, I set aside my usual oils and textured materials and reached instead for raw graphite and ballpoint pen, capturing the magic exactly as it unfolded beside that tiny family.
